I can’t believe how quickly the last few months have sped by. Feels unreal that we’re now six days away from Necessary Fiction’s official publication date. That’s so wild. I’m a bit flustered because of all the travel and movement involved, but I’m also so thrilled. This is my first proper tour and I’m grateful for everyone I’ve met so far. If Vermillion Lagos — powered by A Third Space — and my Abuja event where I was in an unforgettable conversation with Arit Okpo at Salamander Cafe are anything to go by, I already know it’s going to be an epic run.
Here’s where I’ll be if you want to come and find me:
USA
In New York, on publication eve — aka the 21st of July — I’ll be in conversation with Nicole Dennis Benn at McNally Jackson Seaport. We will be talking in depth about the characters, but also about life, love and stories. There’ll be books at the venue and I’ll be signing after! For tickets and more information, click here. Or:
On the 22nd of July, I will be in conversation with my incredible editor, Jake Morrissey at the New York Public Library, for their Seven Stories Up series. We will be talking about the novel, the process of getting it into final shape and answering questions from the audience. It’s also official drop day and I’ve never been in the same space as my book before on release date, so I know this will feel extra special for me and everyone I’ll get to see.
On the 27th of July, I will be at the Free Black Women’s Library in Brooklyn bringing Necessary Fiction to life in the best way. This is an interactive event, and I’ll be co-creating the experience with readers. I love that day already.
UK
On the 30th of July, on UK publication eve, I’ll be hosted by the West Kirby Bookstore in Merseyside. It’s the day before official release but all attendees will get to go away with signed copies of Necessary Fiction! Oh, and they have an incredible wine selection! You can buy tickets here:
On the 31st of July, aka official drop day, I’ll be celebrating with readers in person at Foyles Charring Cross, London. As part of the evening, I’ll be in conversation with Irenosen Okojie. We’ll be talking in detail about the book, taking questions from the audience, I’ll sign and then we’ll all get to talk after. Won’t lie, I’m gassed. Truly cannot waiiiit to celebrate the day with you. RSVP/get tickets below:
On the 4th of August, I’ll be at Waterstones Nottingham! This will be my first time back in Nottingham since I graduated in 2015. I used to go to the Waterstones there all the time, and now my books are there. I’ll get to see them and talk to you about them, and that just feels truly miraculous. Details below:
I’ll be in Edinburgh for a lunchtime event, at Lighthouse Books on the 5th of August. I’ve never been before so I’m looking forward to seeing what it feels like and which faces I’ll meet. If you’re around, please come by!
On the evening of the August 5th, I’ll be in Glasgow at the Waterstones on Argyle Street for an activation of NF. “Eloghosa will discuss writing about their home while traveling the world, the way they use multiple viewpoints to tell one unfolding story, and the importance of creativity and connection, before signing copies of their books.” Come, come, come.
I’ll see you soon? Come with your best hugs. I’ll bring mine too.

In my dream, you visit Japan and I can come and say Hello.
